Project Overview

  • Removal of decommissioned piping systems and equipment in a mechanical room
  • Safe removal and disposal of glycol from heating and cooling systems
  • Demolition of old plant infrastructure, including pumps, heat exchangers and other mechanical components

This project involves the removal and demolition of outdated piping systems, heat exchangers, and pumps within the NFN Mechanical Room located at the NY CREATES facility. The client requires the safe and efficient disposal of hazardous glycol and the complete removal of carbon steel hot water and chilled water piping systems. The work is being performed in preparation for future system upgrades to improve the overall efficiency of the facility’s mechanical systems.

The demolition process presents several unique challenges, including the handling and disposal of glycol, and the safe removal of piping and equipment from the active facility. Special care is being taken to minimize disruption to ongoing operations, as the facility remains occupied during the work. Environmental and safety compliance is critical throughout the project, especially regarding the removal of hazardous materials and fluids from the system.
